Bengal Election Result: Major Upset In Bhawanipur Seat, Shubhendu Adhikari Wins

Kolkata: A significant political shift has been witnessed in West Bengal politics. In the Bhawanipur legislative assembly seat election, Shubhendu Adhikari defeated chief minister Mamta Banerjee after a tough contest. 

       According to official results, a total of 20 rounds of counting were conducted for this seat. In the starting Shubhendu Adhikari took the lead. However, after some time Mamta Banerjee gained a lead of around 16000 votes. Later, the contest turned again.

        In the 17th round of counting, Shubhendu Adhikari once again moved ahead and continued to extend his lead thereafter. Eventually, the secured victory by a margin of more than 15000 votes.

         As per the figures, Shubhendu Adhikari received approximately 73463 votes, while Mamta Banerjee got 58349 votes. Thus the contest concluded with a margin of over 15000 votes.
